After the Cap

Background

The British Petroleum oil spill affected communities across the Gulf. However, there has been little knowledge regarding differences in risk perception both within and across stakeholder groups. Dr. McCormick, Co-Director of EBM, received a RAPID response grant from the Social, Economic and Behavioral Sciences Division of the National Science Foundation to study this topic and to translate the findings through a web-based on-line interface.

Strategy

EBM produced, on location, a series of video vignettes supporting Dr. McCormick’s findings, which have been integrated into a custom-designed video player which adds context to each person’s story.  Designed as both a medium for communicating cutting edge research and as an educational tool for schools and universities, project will be broadened to incorporate research and video vignettes from other disciplines such as sedimentology and marine biology, developing a robust, interactive educational experience.

Project Components

Interactive website, short documentaries.  Visit www.afterthecap.org to see the beta version of the project.
